BENIN CITY – Bendel Insurance Football Club have officially commenced preparations for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with Technical Manager Kennedy Boboye setting an uncompromising tone by demanding discipline, unity and improved performances from his players.
The Benin Arsenals resumed training on Wednesday afternoon at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, following the end-of-season break after the 2025/26 NPFL campaign.
Boboye, who masterminded the club’s remarkable resurgence after taking charge in October 2025, steered Bendel Insurance away from the relegation zone before guiding the team to an impressive fifth-place finish on the league table.
Addressing players and officials at the team’s first training session, the experienced tactician declared that preparations for the new campaign had begun in earnest, stressing that there would be no room for complacency as the club pursues higher ambitions.
The coach urged his players to make the task ahead easier by embracing discipline and hard work, noting that the club’s objective is to consistently challenge for a top-three finish and compete for the league title.

“I welcome everyone back and thank God we are back without health issues. Work has started. No room for indiscipline. We must do better than we did last season. The process begins today. We are expecting some new faces in the next new days. So, we have to receive them as members of Insurance family and work together as a team,” Boboye said.
The technical manager also disclosed that the club’s management has assured the team of improved welfare, insisting that the players must reciprocate the gesture with positive results and attractive football.
“Management has assured us of improved welfare, so,we have no reason not to deliver this time. We owe them and fans winnings and fine football,” he added.
Boboye further directed all retained and newly recruited players to report to the Bendel Insurance GRA camp in Benin City no later than Friday, July 10, 2026, as preparations intensify for the new NPFL season.
