….. Threatens legal actions against peddlers of fake news
Former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has debunked viral reports of his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mallam el-rufai described the report in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that he had received a PDP membership card at his polling unit in Sarki, Kaduna as false.
The fake news had sparked widespread discussions online, with many speculating about the political implications of such a move in Kaduna State’s evolving political landscape.
However, el-Rufai swiftly took to his official X account to set the records straight.
“Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers,” he wrote.
el-Rufai’s refutal and threat of legal action indicated his commitment to countering what he described as “fake news” designed to mislead the public.
The former governor’s political future has been a subject of keen interest, following his tenure marked by bold reforms and controversial policies.
Reports of his dumping the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, had been fueled by the frosty relationship with the government at the federal and state levels.
While the defection rumor has been debunked, it now puts more scrutiny on the next political move by el-Rufai
As discussions continue, all eyes remain on el-Rufai for any official announcements regarding his next political moves, though for now, his stance on party affiliation remains unchanged.
