A strategic meeting of the members of the Diaspora Support Movement for Asue/Ogie held on Monday in London.
Convened by Dr. Peter D’Rock Uwaibi it was essentially devoted to plotting strategies to secure victory for Ighodalo/Ogie in this year’s governorship election slated for September 21 in Edo State.
The meeting, coordinated by Deacon Ray Darlington Okpebholo, a renowned PDP Chieftain and also the lead spokesman of the Team Asue Media Organisation, highlighted the group’s dedication to the campaign. The meeting was also put together to access the level of support and coordination for Dr Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, ahead of the election.
Barrister Eunice Inegbejie, a member of the group, reported that the group has established functional committees across all 18 local governments, with coordinators and members in the 192 wards across the LGAs, working tirelessly to monitor and coordinate grassroots efforts, in order to gain landslide victory in all their units. Campaign materials such as billboards, banners and leaflets have been deployed to garner public support.
Barrister Eunice alongside Princess Ojieronke are preparing campaign materials for distribution as part of the diaspora tour.
The campaign also aims to mobilize youth participation in the upcoming election and raise awareness about political accountability through talk shows and other initiatives.
An Edolite, who was present at the gathering, Princess Ronke Akilola, emphasized the need for sustainable medical access in rural areas, proposing collaboration with Professionals for Humanity to provide healthcare services, including free hernia surgeries, through operational centers in the three senatorial districts.
Dr. Uwaibi commended the efforts of Asue Ighodalo supporters, noting their commitment to continuing Governor Obaseki’s 30-year development plan. He underscored the importance of evaluation mechanisms to assess campaign progress and focus on youth engagement.
Deacon Okpebholo Ray praised the group’s dedication and promised to relay their concerns to Ighodalo. He emphasized that Ighodalo’s emergence was divinely ordained and called for support in the upcoming election.
Okpebholo Ray further urged them to começ home and vote, then those who are unable to travel in September, should convince their friends and family members at home to ensure they cast their vote for the PDP candidate.
