    Lawan Visits Family Of Deceased Ex-Speaker, Na’Abba

    Late Rt Hon Ghali Na’Abba

    President of the Ninth Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, on Sunday night, paid a condolence visit to the family of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba, at his Kano residence.

    Na’Abba died last Wednesday at the age of 65.

    Lawan, in a statement, said that Na’Abba’s death was a personal loss to him as they both served in the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003.

    The former Senate President described Na’Abba as a man of integrity and principle, adding that he stood firmly for the independence of the legislature, and was instrumental in shaping the growth of Nigeria’s democracy.

    Lawan said, “I paid a condolence visit, on Sunday night, to the family of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba, at his Kano residence.

    “Hon. Na’Abba passed away on Wednesday at the age of 65.

    “This is a personal loss to me as we were both colleagues in the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003. Rt. Hon. Na’Abba was a courageous leader who made significant contributions to our nation’s democracy.

    “As Speaker during the Fourth Republic, he stood firmly for the independence of the legislature, and his leadership during that period was instrumental in shaping the growth of our democracy.

    “He was a man of principle and integrity, and his commitment to good governance and accountability was unwavering.

    “His demise is a great loss not only to his family and friends, but to the nation at large.

    “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire Na’Abba family. May Allah forgive his sins and grant him Al-jannah Firdaus.”
