…. As Christ Embassy Leads Prayers for Edo, Nation

By Edward Oseghe

BENIN CITY — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has declared that criminal elements and kidnappers will not determine Nigeria’s destiny, reaffirming his confidence in the nation’s capacity to overcome prevailing security challenges.

The Governor made the statement on Sunday during a visit to LoveWorld City Mega Church (Christ Embassy), Benin City, where he joined worshippers in intercessory prayers for national peace, security, economic revival, and effective leadership.

Okpebholo called on the Church to intensify prayers against kidnapping, cult-related violence, and other threats to public safety, emphasising that overcoming the nation’s current difficulties requires both collective action and divine intervention.

He specifically urged the congregation to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking God to endow him with wisdom, strength, and guidance in steering the country’s affairs and driving economic recovery.

“This country does not belong to kidnappers. No individual or group should hold the nation captive for personal or political interests,” the Governor emphasised.

He observed that kidnapping incidents often become more pronounced during periods of heightened political activities but maintained that the challenge would not define the nation’s future.

“As elections draw closer, kidnapping has become a growing concern. However, with the prayers of God’s people, collective efforts, and the commitment of all stakeholders, we are confident that these challenges will be defeated and our nation will continue to move forward,” Okpebholo added.

The Governor noted that prayers offered for Nigeria’s progress would invariably translate into peace, security, and development across Edo State and the entire country.

During the service, the Officiating Minister and Zonal Pastor of Christ Embassy Benin Zone 1, Pastor Moses Olayemi, led special prayers for Edo State, Nigeria, its leaders, local government councils, communities, and the economy.

Pastor Olayemi prayed for divine protection, national unity, economic prosperity, and enduring peace across the country.

He also commended Governor Okpebholo for ongoing infrastructural projects in Edo State, particularly road construction and rehabilitation efforts, which he said were positively impacting residents.

“We appreciate the transformation taking place across the state. The roads and other projects are improving daily, and we commend your efforts. May God grant you the resources and strength to complete what you have started,” Pastor Olayemi said.

The service underscored the growing partnership between faith-based institutions and government in promoting peace, good governance, and sustainable development in Edo State and Nigeria at large.
