President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Abuja for Europe on Sunday to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President’s first destination will be London, United Kingdom.
The statement, titled “President Tinubu begins three-week leave,” indicated that the President would spend the period on a working vacation before returning to Nigeria.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave,” Onanuga said.
The presidential aide added that Tinubu was expected to return to Nigeria after the vacation to join preparations for the 2027 general elections.
“President Tinubu is expected to return home after the working vacation to join the hectic campaign for the January 2027 election,” the statement said.
The three-week leave comes as the Tinubu administration continues to implement its economic and governance programmes ahead of the 2027 elections.
The President’s absence from the country is not expected to affect the running of government, with constitutional and administrative arrangements in place for the continuity of governance during his leave.
